century masonry bridge. Still standing, largely as it was when built, it played an important role as a bridging point for the Parliamentarians in the Civil War. A stained glass window in Farndon church commemorates the event. A painting of the Holt - Farndon bridge is shown above.

First Endeavours
Geoff’s interest in art started at an early age and whilst still at school in north London, he exhibited at the Camden Passage exhibition and received a commendation for his work. Art took a back seat throughout Geoff’s early life as he devoted his time to his family and his career as a civil engineer working on many large industrial projects at home and abroad.

Late Developer
Always with an interest in art, Geoff’s main opportunities came when on holiday when he was able
to sketch scenes of local interest. Eventually, around 1990, Geoff’s passion for art re-surfaced and he began to paint again and to sketch more frequently. Largely self taught, Geoff was influenced by many artists from the great masters of Constable, Turner, and Monet to more recent modern artists such as Alwyn Crawshaw, Hazel Harrison, Jackie Symmonds, Alan Oliver, Trevor Waugh, David Bellamy and many others.

Art Societies
Geoff has been influenced by many ‘working’ artists who have demonstrated at his local art societies in Wrexham and Chester. He encourages others thinking of starting out in art, to join a local club where they will undoubtedly gain such support and instruction from other budding artists.
